/ FAQ's

Q: How long have you been raising westies?

A: I have been raising Westies for 18 years. I own no other dogs.

Q: How many Westies do you have?

A: I currently have 4 breeding females and 1 stud dog. I also keep several young females that may pass along their genes in a few years when others retire.

Q: How many litters do you have a year?

A: That depends on how many breeding females I have and other criteria. No female is permitted to have more than 1 litter a year and after a limited number of whelpings (3-4) are retired from our breeding program.

Q: Do your dogs have any history of health/skin problems?

A: We strive for improvement in each litter we produce so we breed no dogs with a history of health, skin or temperment problems.

Q: Do you have any mini-Westies or curly Westies?

A: As a responsible breeder I do not breed Westies that do not conform as closely as possible to the standards set for the breed. All of our Westies are 10-11 inches  high at the shoulder, weigh 14-18 lbs. and have the double coat required for the breed.

Q: Which is better, a male or female Westie?

A: Of course that depends on your own preferences and the individual personality of the dog and the impact his or her enviroment and rearing makes on the dog. As for looks , the male is more like what you see on TV and calendars. Many owners feel they are also more loving than the females. I can assure you this is not always the case.

Q: Will my male hike his leg?

A: This is a matter of training and any male I have ever had would never dream of hiking his leg in the home. When fixed at an early age many never hike at all.

Q: Will my Westie get along with my other pets?

A: This is again a matter of training . In general Westies are very eager to please their owners and easily trained. Many are placed in homes with pet birds, etc. with no problems.

Q: Are Westies good with children?

A: The Westie is a very tough , hardy small dog and I can't think of another who fits better with the entire family INCLUDING CHILDREN. Many of our Westies are placed into families with children. We have never had a complaint.

Q: Which make a better pair if I get 2 Westies.

A:  If fixed at a young age, other dogs consider a "fixed dog" as non-sexual, so there is no difference. We have had many folks take home 2 girls or 2 boys that are to this day best buddies!
